I’m often asked questions like, “Should I wash my hair before I come in”? And, “How long will my appointment take”? The answers are not the same for everyone. Let’s address the most frequent questions and tips for a successful salon appointment.
Wash Your Hair
Stylists prefer clean hair! I don’t know where the idea of dirty hair being preferred came from, but clean hair is best. However, there is one exception, and that is, do not wash your hair the day of your appointment if you’re getting high lift color or bleach applied to your scalp.
Know What You Want
Have a clear idea of the hairstyle or treatment you want. Consider bringing pictures or examples to show your stylist for reference.
Schedule the Time
Book your appointment at a time when you won’t feel rushed. Avoid scheduling immediately before a big event or when you have other commitments. Stylists are artists, and not all of us reach hair goals the same way. Some appointments take longer than others.
Be On Time
Punctuality is key to a smooth salon visit. Arriving on time ensures that you have ample time for your appointment and helps the salon stay on schedule.
Arange Childcare
While I’m sure your children are wonderful, bringing them to your hair appointment isn’t. This appointment is for you to enjoy your services, as well as the other salon clients to enjoy theirs. Unless your child has a hair service appointment, please leave them with a sitter.
Wear the Right Clothes
There is hair color hiding in nooks and crannies of salons and it could find it’s way on to your clothing. Please don’t wear anything you don’t want potentially damaged. Many clients have a “salon top” they wear just for hair appointments.
Bonus Tips
-
